Today celebrates the one year anniversary of receiving and revealing my @africanancestry results. (Not to be confused with Ancestry.com)
That day will forever be special because I was joined by two of my supportive friends Wendi and Isa as we hosted our very own reveal party on FB Live. I also found out that Wendi and I share a tribe of Cameroon. 🇨🇲 My results revealed that my maternal side extends from three different tribes in Cameroon.(Masa,Mafa, and Kotoko) If this confuses you, it confused me at first too LoL.

See, before countries in Africa had these names that we know today, it was just a land mass of trade routes, and empires with traveling groups of people, or nomads. It wasn’t until the Berlin Conference(Scramble for Africa) that borders were placed and certain names given. The tribes represent the cultures, beliefs, language, and tradition shared amongst a group of people. Tribes would move from place to place and settle based on the topography and/or agriculture of the land. From my understanding, tribes sometimes mixed in or separated and changed their names. So there ya have it!
I plan to learn more about my tribes, find out my paternal results, and God willing my next phase will be to make my visit. 2020??? 👀😉👀
Thanks for featuring my story! @africanancestry
