These two photos are three weeks apart. 
In this short amount of time, did my strength improve dramatically? Not likely. 
In the second photo, while I learned how to recruit certain muscles while hanging in the air, it seemed nearly impossible to flatten my back, pull my chest toward the ceiling, or take my legs farther away from my body. 
In the first photo, a few weeks later and with some consistent practice, a new awareness of where I was in space made this suddenly very achievable. 
Strength is not equal to proprioception and novel stimulus of the vestibular system. 
This same day, I went from zero pistol squats on my left leg to multiple sets of 8 reps 🤯🤯🤯 Take away: sensory inputs drive motor outputs. Get some. 💪🏼🙌🏻🤓

Possono essere necessari i tutori. ☆ Distinguere lassità legamentosa benigna da quella presente nelle patologie del tessuto connettivo come Sd Ehlers-Danlos oppure Sd Marfan oppure da quella acquisita grazie a pratiche sportive come danza, arti marziali, contorsionismo, ginnastica artistica ecc ☆ La scala di Beighton è quella più comune:

Story time:

When I was 23 I wasn't an avid physical movement practitioner. I did some basic calisthenics, used my bike as a means of transport and ran occasionally. 
One day at work, I was asked by multiple different people if I was a dancer. Apparently, I moved like one. I replied "I'm not, but I wish I was". Later, I was thinking: "what is stopping me from becoming a dancer"? I thought that I was beginning too late in life. But if I start at 23 and continue until I can't anymore, who knows how beautifully I will dance? I thought that I might not have some kind of natural talent. But again, how good could I get after 10,000 hours. 20,000? 30,000? Very good. Maybe I would never be a professional. Maybe I would never dance as cleanly as someone who'd been dancing their whole life, but I realised I didn't need to compete with them. I wanted to dance for my own enjoyment. And so I did. 
Eventually, I realised that my true passion for movement extended beyond dance into the exploration of many different movement disciplines, but that's another story. 
So now, I'm going to learn to Stalder press. I have a journey still ahead of me, but it's decided.

I love this life. . . . .

I have a harder time feeling my right glute. Giving myself proprioception as to whether or not my whole body is staying stable in a single leg hip hinge AND separating the hip hinge into 2 components (1. Move the trunk 2. Sit back with the hip), helps me to get to “the heart of the glute” @shayshaynyc.

Pushing backwards with the foot that is on the bench not only takes some of the load off of the standing leg, which can help focus on better form and feeling the glute if you need to lessen resistance, but also helps to eccentrically work the glute of the standing leg by the countering pushing forward movement of the standing leg through back push of the top leg. This ultimately turns the exercise into a bit more of a lunge with the push back of the top foot.

Starting the first set with a roller on the BACK of the head, helps to work head posture AND adds a long moment arm of resistance for the standing glute. Give yourself a double chin as you hip hinge forward  and support the light weight of the roller with the deep neck flexors (by placing only the fingertips on the roller or you can use a physio ball, you ensure that you use your head posture muscles and not your arms too much for this one).

Add a kick back with the leg on the bench if you DARE and are able to maintain a connection between bottom leg tibia and the bench. This tibial connection to the bench is also key in giving you proprioception that your leg and knee and foot are staying stable.

Placing the roller between the foot and hand OR putting a yoga block between knee and elbow, is a very helpful way to stabilize in the torso using the core as you perform the exercise. I sped up many parts to get the whole series on instagram.

🔸My body doesn’t spend enough time here
🔸It’s necessary as a human/bipedal creature who walks, runs, dances, wears heels occasionally 👀
🔸My low back has the tendency of doing what my legs are supposed to (so the foam roller balanced on my back keeps me honest and challenged)
🔸Training in mindfulness 💁🏻‍♀️ .

Sure, I could do some impressive backbends & bridges but I’m more interested in distributing force more evenly through my backside first. #eatyourbroccoli .

What’s the point here? 
What makes someone a better mover is greater variability. 
When I think of what it means to be a “better mover”, I think of more freedom of expression to do the things that I want to do in my life and to be pain-free. It may look like small unnecessarily detailed work, but it will give me so much more potential in how I move my body. .

When in this quadruped position with one knee forward, it completely takes the low back out of the equation. As you can see, I’m struggling. Most of time, the thing that is challenging is what you need. I will play with a few liftoffs and then regress to regular quadruped, but with a foam roller balanced on my back 😉 to keep me honest + for added #proprioception challenge (see those circles with my extended leg?.. yeah buddy) Finish it off with some hip CARs. You can even circle back and end with the liftoffs with one knee forward and give it another go. A yoga block on your low back will work on the medium height. A foam roller is even harder. Edited to add:  Hard AF.

🔸It’s necessary as a human/bipedal creature who walks, runs, dances, wears heels occasionally 👀
🔸My low back has the tendency of doing what my legs are supposed to (so the foam roller balanced on my back keeps me honest and challenged)

When I think of what it means to be a “better mover”, I think of more freedom of expression to do the things that I want to do in my life and to be pain-free. It may look like small unnecessarily detailed work, but it will give me so much more potential in how I move my body. .

When in this quadruped position with one knee forward, it completely takes the low back out of the equation. As you can see, I’m struggling. Most of time, the thing that is challenging is what you need. I will play with a few liftoffs and then regress to regular quadruped, but with a foam roller balanced on my back 😉 to keep me honest + for added #proprioception challenge (see those circles with my extended leg?.. yeah buddy) Finish it off with some hip CARs. You can even circle back and end with the liftoffs with one knee forward and give it another go. A yoga block on your low back will work on the medium height. A foam roller is even harder. Edited to add:  Hard AF.

Some proprioception/balance work to help rehab an ankle injury with @mark.schweiger.

The proprioceptive system is made up of receptor nerves that are positioned in the muscles, joints and ligaments around joints. The receptors can sense tension and stretch and pass this information to the brain where it is processed. The brain then responds by signalling to muscles to contract or relax in order to produce the desired movement.

When you suffer an injury the receptors are damaged as well meaning the signals can be impaired leaving you at risk of re-injury!! It’s an important part of your recovery to retrain the proprioceptive system to reduce this risk!

Some compression work on rings ✅ great for ABdominal strength - better toe to bar/kipping/pull-ups etc
✅ pretty cool for shoulders too- better control from rotator cuff muscles + lats, Olympic lifting, pressing etc is stronger/safer
✅ GRIP STRENGTH- everyone needs it
✅ being upside down is GREAT for immunity- less likelihood of getting sick, good for blood circulation issues
✅ Good for balance - you can’t make power if you have no balance. Try punch someone standing on one leg- not so easy, not so strong ✅ great for Instagram- cause no one cares about thoughtful, intelligent posts, we all just wanna see sexi videos right 😛

I love the feet and there are so many exercises that are fun and terrific for strengthening and mobilizing the feet.
👉🏻Mini loop around my big toes to help abduct the big toes away from the second toes (helps correct my bunions) while performing toe CARS. 1) Lift just the big toe keep other 4 toes down.
2) Lift four little toes and keep the big toe down.
3) Lift and spread all toes and lower them down individually.
4) Lift all the toes and just tap the big toe down.
👉🏻Rolling around the ankle and pushing off the toes. Band around feet helps me feel the connection of my foot to my glutes.

Exploring level changes in my body while finding stability and malleability from the ground up as the levels and textures of the props change.

I have trained a lot of clients with knee concerns. You name it: knee replacement, torn ligaments, etc. I have seen these clients gone far not only in lessening knee pain, but also losing weight despite this obstacle. Constantly, we always have to assess “how far along are they?” and “what exercises they can perform at this point of the process?” No two people respond to exercise and recover the same, so there is no “one-size-fits-all” answer for this. But as recovery continues to progress, the goal should be to always continually work on strength, mobility/flexibility, and, my favorites, reintroduction and proprioception. As well as moving the body to burn calories, it is also critical to have a sense of self-movement and body position in regards to your environment (proprioception). Every so often, you have to reintroduce movements to the body in a regressive/progressive nature to continually strengthen it. This is especially important for knee problems, as it is not always about avoiding what you cannot do or what hurts.

The two moves above cover strength, proprioception, and balance. Split Squat Stance Med Ball Throws and Banded Hip Abduction on the Wall. I usually reserve these moves for people who are further along in their weight loss or athletic training. These are also good moves for people further along in ACL recovery.

Every so often, you have to reintroduce movements to the body in a regressive/progressive nature to continually strengthen it. This is especially important for knee problems, as it is not always about avoiding what you cannot do or what hurts.

The two moves above cover strength, proprioception, and balance. Split Squat Stance Med Ball Throws and Banded Hip Abduction on the Wall. I usually reserve these moves for people who are further along in their weight loss or athletic training. These are also good moves for people further along in ACL recovery.
