Whether you are a new mom or not. Low back pain is relatively common and is most often from either traumatic or mechanical causes. Did you know that MOST low back pain is preventable? Some back pain of course if caused by factors outside our control, including: traumatic accidents, infection, tumors and congenital defects. However most low back pain is preventable with the proper education and knowledge. .

Regardless of exact low back pain diagnosis, there are rehabilitation exercises that will help with low back pain. .

Low back pain can be caused by a combination of muscle strains, trigger points, hypomobility/hypermobility, facet joint sprains, disc related issues, and sacroiliac joint issues. 
Some factors identified as contributors to low back pain are: anatomy, poor body mechanics, muscle imbalances, conditioning/core stability, inflexibility, alignment/symmetry, hours and positions required in your occupation or daily activities, volume of physical activity, being overweight and smoking habits. .

Body mechanics include how an individual sits, walks, sleeps, lifts objects and performs daily activities and exercises. Some muscle imbalances found with low back pain are weak transverse abdominis, obliques, rectus abdominis (abdominal muscles), tight or weak erector spinae muscle, tight illiopsoas (hip flexors) and tight hamstrings. .

Dysfunction of the kinetic chain is rarely an isolated event; typically it is part of a chain reaction involving some key links in the chain and numerous compensations and adaptions that develop.

Lateral ankle sprains occur with inversion mechanisms (rolling your ankle inward). It can range in severity from an overstretch of the ligaments to a complete tear. Initial symptoms include swelling, bruising of the ankle/foot, pain with walking, stairs and reduced range of motion.
•
Treatment begins with:
➡️Education: when a fracture has been ruled out (Ottawa Ankle Rules), these injuries generally recover within 6-8 weeks. Bracing and taping have mixed reviews but can help with function and return to sport.
.
➡️Phase 1 Exercises.
✅Ankle ABC: to reduce swelling/improve mobility, draw the alphabet treating your foot as the pencil.
✅Weight shifting as much as tolerated side ways and lunging forwards onto a step. Hold for 3-5 seconds repeat 5-10 times.
✅Isometric strengthening: meet your own resistance trying to push your foot to left, right, seated calf raise. 5 x 5 seconds. Progress to standing as tolerated. ✅Theraband exercises: 5-12 x 3 sets.

Using this stabilizing exercise for #kneehab 👆🏻🏋🏼‍♀️. Ten years ago, I sustained a somewhat severe knee sprain that compromised the strength and function of my joint ligaments.  In the last decade I’ve had two additional minor sprains as a result of that underlying instability.  I’ve had to learn to select proper movement patterns and exercises, and I’ve also worked diligently to correct the joint ecosystem with stability exercises, eccentric resistance, and proper nutrition/ supplementation.

Regardless, this drill is excellent  for either re-habbing OR PREhabbing!! The multi-directional force production of single-leg side box jumps, as well as controlled single-leg landings (both onto the bosu, and off of both box and bosu), make for an all-around fantastic strength, power, and stability combo. 👉🏻check yourself on landings...stabilize COMPLETELY before each movement and you’ll feel how you’re recruiting core and hips as well.
