The barbell thruster is a combination of a front squat and overhead press.
The upward momentum and acceleration of the bar comes from the feet pushing the floor. 
The objective is for explosive power to come from the leg muscles and the hips; the arms merely accompany the bar upward.

🔴Characteristic problem / mistake:

Lumbar extension, usually to compensate for mobile inability to raise arms above the head.
The inability to raise the arms above the head can have several causes, among them tight muscles, structural problems, rigidity of the thoracic spine, etc.
In this video we will see the reasons for difficulties in raising arms above the head (difficulty in full shoulder extension)

I believe the Swiss ball is the most effective and versatile tools when it comes to injury rehabilitation, core stabilisation, flexibility, balance and strength!

Having spent many years working successfully with the Swiss ball as both a rehabilitation and sports performance conditioning modality, encouraged me to share the video of Paul Wells 55yrs old who had the movement of a stiff wooden log and was riddled with injuries due to compensating muscle groups and a dysfunctional posture! He’s worked consistently and accepted only he can reprogram his postural dysfunctions but patience was a muscle he also needed to develop! (One of the reasons individuals don’t heal is lack of patience and lack of commitment and they use the phrase it must be my age which he no longer believes 👍😇). He now makes light work of some of the most advanced core exercises!

Give it a go and see how many you can get in one set! a good goal would be 20repetitions in a set! I would only only recommend it to people who think they have a good level of core strength as it will notify you of any imbalances and deviations!

The erector spinae is a large set of muscles that originate near the sacrum and extend vertically up the length of the back. They lie on each side of the vertebral column and extend alongside the lumbar, thoracic and cervical sections of the spine.

Basically, you have mobile joints and stable joints.

▶️Mobile joints have a wide range of motion, allowing for lots of movement.
⠀
▶️Stable joints resist undesired movement.
⠀ ⠀
The dope thing is - your major joints alternate in what they need - more mobility or more stability.
⠀
A joint that needs more stability has joints on either side that need mobility, and vice-versa.
⠀
Cooool… but how does this apply to you?
⠀
▶️If one of these joints is lacking adequate mobility/stability, a domino effect is created. This can surface as issues at OTHER joints, that at first glance aren’t related to the real source of the problem.
⠀
▶️When there’s an issue with mobility/stability in one joint, the body shifts the movement or stability demands to the above and below joints - which aren’t designed to be mobile/stable.
⠀
^This typically manifests itself as pain in the joint above or below the actual source of the problem.
⠀
▪️Example 1: One of the most common areas I see this in - poor scapular stability manifesting itself as shoulder pain. Often the solution isn’t doing more shoulder mobility work, it’s working on stabilizing the scapula.
⠀
▪️Example 2: Say you can’t get much movement out of your hips. So, the needed movement shifts to your knees and lumbar spine. This results in your back rounding forward as you squat. But the issue here isn’t (at least entirely) lumbar spine stability, it’s hip mobility.

Basically - if you’re having pain/issues with a joint, don’t just try to “fix” that area - look above and below.
⠀

Now, this is a broad generalization with tons of exceptions.

When I first saw posts from @pilateswithloz I immediately wanted to be #instafriends. 💜Her honesty, humor, beauty and kindness can be felt in all of her posts.

She recently passed her Barre Certification 🎉🎉and in celebration, I just had to do a little barre flow with her! It’s a coincidence that we both received our certifications through IBBFA @barrecertification , so it was all the more reason why I wanted to celebrate together.

She put together a little barre flow ( ➡️swipe to view )and I added my own graceFIT touches with my graceFIT stick. I also show a version on the barre and Lauren a lovely option w/ a chair. I then ended with a little play , at the end, that I really liked and will definitely build upon, but that’s for another post!☺️

What’s a Superset?🤔 Hey what’s what’s up squad? Coach P (@percell.dugger) here and today i’m highlighting a term used in the fitness space often: Superset. In short, when looking to increase muscle size as well as endurance and strength, a great approach to doing so is to implement supersets into your workout. A Supersets are two exercises that focus on the same primary movers(source of power), performed back to back without any rest between the two exercises.

I love to superset my workouts with traditional strength exercises like the Bench Press, followed by a stabilization exercise like the Stability Ball Push-Up.

2️⃣Stability Ball Push Ups 3sets 5reps.
