У меня очень маленькая нога, 22 см и мне пришлось очень сильно помучать консультанта с подборкой кроссовок 😭 2 дня и вуааляяя мы смогли выбрать 🤤
В этот же день мне их отправили и спустя 4 дня я вам хвастаюсь своими 34 пегасиками😍♥️
Для меня выбор обуви крайне сложен, у меня стопа привередливая и иногда ее не понять: то ей мягкие подавай, то жесткие👟👟
Но своё упокоение я нашла именно в Nike Pegasus 34 🤤

Okay so 4 miles early to beat the heat today. Man I love when I get out early. It's refreshing. And it's so nice to get it out of the way so as not to stress on running all day. It can sometimes cause me, and those around me a little bit of stress when I'm focused all day on running. It must have rained all night because there were puddles everywhere and no chance of running on any dirt today. All good, I'd rather pound the pavement than dirt any day

I am still riding the PR high from last might!
When I arrived the pressure to PR was overwhelming. My previous was 8:30, set 2 weeks after running Chicago, when I was in my best running shape. I had not run a sub 9 minute mile since July 2018. I decided to set my sights on achieving a sub 9. I felt confident about this goal.

The gun went off and off we went. I was planning to go out around an 8:45 and ease into the pain but when I looked down at .15 I was running a 7:42 😱 ummmmm what?? 1/4 Mile Mark: I pulled back just a little to reserve some push for the end. I look down, 8:05, ok this feels hard but I can do this. By this point it was clear this one mile would involve a lot of weaving in and out of people. Did I mention I still had my breathing under control? Who was I? I was still feeling, do I dare say, good?

1/2 Mile Mark: oh hey, there is the pain. Legs burning, chest is on fire and certainty that I have internal bleeding but I was on pace to set a new PR. Not just sub 9, but sub 8:30. So I committed to living in extreme discomfort for the next 4 minutes.

And then, we had our first left turn. Smart val should have gone to the outside right but I got stuck on the inside left, sandwiched between multiple families with kids. While I considered nudging/elbowing/pushing my through the group of tiny humans I figured that would be frowned upon. After my pace slowed to an 8:57, I leapt through a tiny opening and pushed as hard as I could to make up for lost time. I WAS RUNNING AT A 6:52 😱☠ 3/4 Mile Mark: We took the last left turn and this time I had learned from my first mistake. I came around the corner, and the energy from the energy was electric. I could see the clock as I came upon the finish line. This was it. I had what it took, I gave every ounce of energy I had to the end.

I crossed over knowing I had done it. It hurt like hell, but I did it, a 17 second PR!

Throughout the month of March, as I was driving back and forth to do my runs on the Alter-G treadmill at physical therapy, I would cross this bridge that goes over the American River and the Parkway bike trail that I log the majority of my miles on. Some mornings I’d catch a glimpse of this view from the car, which would inevitably transport me into a daydream about getting back out there in my running shoes and beginning my days like this again. And now, here I am. This morning I ran 7 miles at sunrise, and it was just as amazing as I remembered. It simultaneously feels like so much time has passed, and like no time has passed at all. And I’m still just over here feeling grateful for all of it. 🏃🏼‍♀️🌅💛 #wakeupandrun #borntorun

Don’t you love it when your toe catches the sidewalk and you take those weird steps in an attempt to catch yourself and you *almost* do, but then you’re too pitched forward and everything goes into slo-mo and you’re thinking “ooohh noooo” and hoping you can roll with minimal damage while also being concerned about people driving by seeing you eat it? Yeah, me too. Needless to say I was more intentional about picking up my feet for the rest of the run. 🙄 Thankfully there was no blood, just a sore hand from impact. We’ll see if my shoulder is a bit sore later. I’ve gotten pretty good at the shoulder roll. Uh, thanks, hapkido training in 6th grade? 🥋

Not a lot of fun. 😟 But I still did my yoga even though I don't feel like it because I knew if I didn't I'd feel depressed. Of course I ran my 3.1 miles to keep my two streaks going. I really had no choice in that. If you want something enough, you'll make it happen! 🙌 As much as I wanted to lay in bed all day, I had to take kids to work, take one shopping and of course housework. But today, I'm going to try and rest more. ❤️😴

I look happy but I actually have an icky cold. Spent the Tuesday sneezing and sniffling😷. I’ve mentioned before that having a coach has been a really, really good thing for me, but this week I’m experiencing an unexpected positive impact of having a coach.
When I talked to @motherrunnermel on Saturday after my long run and basically sobbed through the first half of our call she was quick to adjust the schedule for this week—she changed up my workout yesterday and then dropped the easy run from today 😱
I literally initially asked if it was a punishment for not having done as well as I could have 😂 but she reassured me that she changed my schedule to PROTECT me from the burnout I’m feeling—to give my body and mind a bit of a break so that I can compete in just over 3 weeks as my best self.

I think as the competitive, driven people we tend to be as runners, it can be really hard to accept needing a break, and were I doing this training cycle on my own there’s no way I would be taking today off 🙅🏼‍♀️ but I trust my coach and the process, and I’m feeling grateful for the outside voice of reason Mel is providing me right now.

So I just checked my kids into the gym daycare, and now imma read a book and drink some Nuun for the next 2 hours 💁🏼‍♀️

4 Recovery Miles 🏃🏽‍♀️🏃🏽‍♀️🏃🏽‍♀️🏃🏽‍♀️ I knocked this run out before 8 a.m. Who am I?! It’s a beautiful morning for a run and living at the lake makes it that much better. 💛 My goal was to keep my pace at an easy 10:15-10:45 and I did just that today!

It's just finally starting to feel warm, but within a couple short weeks (if you are living in the midwest) we will most likely be in full on summer running mode. I honestly love summer running, the warm miles, the awesome runner's tan (cue the sarcasm) and the early morning/ late evening sunlight just can't be beat. BUT summer running can also be tough. Humidity honestly kills me and hot runs can make you question your current fitness (if not sanity) (side note, once Landon and I ran, on our honeymoon in 113 degree heat, unknowingly to us. Do not try that at home.) Hopefully you aren't running in 113 degrees, but even in the 70s, running can be hard and hot. Below are a couple of my all time favorite ways to stay COOL and confident with my summer miles! 
1️⃣. Dress for the heat > this seems like it goes without saying, but it is SO important to make sure you dress for the heat. And by dressing for the heat, I mean in high quality (yes, it makes a difference) running clothes that will keep you cool and comfortable during your runs. Also, a rule of thumb is dress about 10-15 degrees cooler than the actual heat outside. Basically, wear less than you think you need, because you will warm up once you get moving – especially in the summer.

2️⃣ Plan your routes around water fountains > One of my favorite things about where I live is the vast amount of water fountains. They are a lifesaver during the summer. If you can, plan your route along water fountains. A quick water break does wonders during those really hot runs! Also, pop a bottle of water in the freezer so when you get back, it is nice and cold! If you drive to your route, make sure to have water and maybe some electrolytes/BCAAS in your car for quick refuel/recovery!

3️⃣. Run early > Make sure to get out the door, preferably before 10am (on a hot day it gets super hot after 10 am) if you have to run later, try for the evening!

4️⃣. Give your body 2 weeks to adapt/learn how to run in the heat > as mentioned before, it takes a couple weeks for your body to adapt to the heat. Our bodies are amazingly designed and they WILL adapt to hotter or colder temperatures. (Continued in comments) 👇🏼😂

On Wednesdays we.... push our kids in strollers! I get to lead a stroller mom group on Wednesday mornings in DT Wake Forest. All winter it’s been gloomy and cold. We are officially out of that season and into the “sweat while pushing your stroller uphill” season! Early morning run so I could get it done outside! Well, most of it. Did 1.5 mile warm up on the tread because it was still dark, then did my workout outside. 4x1 mile at goal pace (8:40-8:45) with 2 min recovery jog, and cooled down until I hit 7 miles for the morning. Even with VERY tired and sore legs, I hit my paces and felt good otherwise.  And glad I cut my warmup a little short because I got a “hustle up please” text from my husband on my way back to the house 😂 Happy hump day 🐪

I gladly accepted company on today’s 8x400m @ 6:18 pace. If there’s anything I’ve learned as I’ve gotten older, it’s that there’s room for everyone to excel whether it be running, career, social media, entrepreneurship, etc. People supporting people. I’m here for it 💯. No way would I have hit my splits without matching strides with Shayna today and no way would she have even attempted that workout if not for the invite from me. Stronger together 👯‍♀️

💗 I LOVE color street because of their easy, beautiful, affordable nails, BUT I love them even more now 💗  I JUST started with Color Street this month and I know they’ve done sets for VETS, Animal rescues, and NOW Mental Awareness- which is AMAZING and such a wonderful cause! “For the month of May, the Color Street Foundation focus is mental health awareness. This time around, we’re doing things a little differently than we have before, and are partnering with two fantastic organizations that help provide resources and early intervention for young people who are at risk or suffering from mental health issues.

The The Jed Foundation - JED aims to strengthen and improve mental health education and programs at schools and universities nationwide by working with school administration and officials to create effective and impactful change from the top level. Active Minds works directly with students and young adults ages 14-25 and opens avenues for direct, peer to peer conversations about mental health through education, research, and advocacy.
